The Kentucky Office of the Attorney General and Office of Victim Advocacy are offering training focused on Cold-Case Sexual Assault Investigations: Reopening Cases and Notifying Victims. The course will be offered on the following date:
Sept. 25-28, at the Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Shelby Campus.
The prerequisites for taking the course include completion of Working the Case I: Case Assessment and Review and Working the Case II: Case Follow-up Based on SAK Testing Results.
The class will provide investigative factors to consider when reopening “cold” sexual assault investigations. The course will cover investigative background work, including investigative planning and skills. This interactive course will allow officers to review and plan for their own cold case investigation and practice trauma-informed notifications and interview skills with trained actors.
