Sending and receiving mail is easier than ever before at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training. No longer will mail be processed through Eastern Kentucky University. Rather, it will be handled through DOCJT’s mailroom.
All incoming and outgoing mail should be addressed to the agency’s physical address, Funderburk Building, 4449 Kit Carson Drive, Richmond, KY 40475, instead of the university campus address previously used.
“Our clients won’t see a difference,” said Kerrie Dehorty, Logistics Branch manager. “The only thing that will change is the address they send things to. It should be pretty seamless.”
According to Eric Garner, DOCJT Technical Services supervisor, while EKU provided a good service to the agency for many years, DOCJT will no longer encounter delays in mail experienced during university breaks and holiday closures. Mail will now be delivered directly from the U.S. Postal Service to DOCJT.
DOCJT will meter all outgoing mail through the Technical Services section. Garner said the metering machine would allow greater tracking capability for certified mail and for reports to be generated.
In addition to making mailing simpler and saving DOCJT money, 4449 Kit Carson Drive is also the correct GPS address for the agency and will bring clients directly to the department’s front door.
