John Steven Uram - Bardstown Police Department
Steve Uram was appointed chief of Bardstown Police Department on Nov. 9, 2016. Uram has 34 years of law enforcement experience in the U.S. and overseas. He began his law enforcement career with the Jefferson County Police Department. Uram spent most of his law enforcement career with the Everett Police Department in Washington, serving 25 years before retiring. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 207th session. He served two years with the Department of Justice International Law Enforcement in Afghanistan. Uram graduated from the Jefferson County/Louisville Police Department Basic Training Academy in 1973. He attended Eastern Kentucky University, City University of Seattle and University of Virginia.
James Ebert - Richmond Police Department
James Ebert was appointed chief of Richmond Police Department on Oct. 18, 2016. Ebert has 14 years of law enforcement experience. He began his law enforcement career with the Nicholasville Police Department. The majority of his law enforcement career was spent with the Frankfort Police Department, where he moved through the ranks of patrolman to assistant shift commander before coming to Richmond. Ebert has three associate degrees from Central Texas College, a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University and a master’s degree in Justice Administration from University of the Cumberlands. He is a graduate of the Department of Criminal Justice Training Basic Training Class No. 313. He also is a graduate of Academy of Police Supervision Class No. 40, Criminal Justice Executive Development Class No. 17 and Southern Police Institute AOC Class No.135.
Robert Woods, Jr. - Fulton County Sheriff’s Office
Robert Woods Jr. was appointed sheriff of Fulton County on Sept. 22, 2016. Woods has 18 years of law enforcement experience. He began his law enforcement career with the Hickman Police Department. Woods also served the Fulton Police Department before coming to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Woods is a graduate of DOCJT Basic Training Class No. 270.
Daniel C. Toman - Morganfield Police Department
Daniel Toman was appointed chief of Morganfield Police Department on August 25, 2016. Toman has 21 years of law enforcement experience. He began his law enforcement career with the Sturgis Police Department. He also served the Providence Police Department before coming to Morganfield, where he moved through the ranks to become chief. He is a graduate of DOCJT Basic Training Class No. 247.
Nathan Kent - Mayfield Police Department
Nathan Kent was appointed chief of Mayfield Police Department on July 11, 2016. Kent has 21 years of law enforcement experience. He began his law enforcement career with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 in Mayfield. Kent also served the KSP Headquarters and KSP Post 12 in Frankfort as commander before retiring. He has a bachelor’s degree in English from Indiana University. Kent is a graduate of KSP Academy Cadet Class No. 72 and the FBI National Academy 222nd session.
Jeff Sears - Science Hill Police Department
Jeff Sears was appointed chief of Science Hill Police Department in June 2016. Sears has 23 years of law enforcement experience. His entire law enforcement career was spent with Somerset Police Department before coming to Science Hill. Sears is a graduate of DOCJT Basic Training Class No. 186.
Dennis Cunningham - Oak Grove Police Department
Dennis Cunningham was appointed chief of Oak Grove Police Department on April 10, 2016. Cunningham has 22 years of law enforcement experience. He is a retired 21-year veteran of the U.S. Army. Cunningham began his law enforcement career with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, where he served 13 years. He then joined the Oak Grove Police Department, moving through the ranks to become chief. Cunningham is a graduate of DOCJT Basic Training Class No. 261.
